Simply Brittany

Welcome to the SIMPLY BRITTANY holiday cottage. This attractively furnished accommodation is set in the heart of the Cotes D'Armour in Brittany.

Our Beautiful home is situated in a quiet village in picturesque Pledeliac just 20 minutes from lakes, golden beaches and historical places of interest.

There is so much to do in Brittany - there are miles of glorious golden beaches, centuries of history, beautiful scenery and more. One of the best places to find out information is the Brittany Tourism website.

Below we have listed a small selection of some to the things you can see and do, it is by no means a definitive list and will grow over time.

Restaurants

  • La Grande Fontaine - 7, rue de Penthievre, 22 270 Jugon Les Lacs - Mr. Pillard cooks tasty dishes made from country produce and fresh fish which he selects at the market everyday.
  • La Tour d'Argent - 2 rue du Docteur Lavergne - 22400 Lamballe - situated near the beaches of the Emerald Coast near St. Brieuc
  • Le Windsor - Le Bois-Billy, 22130 Plorec

Museums and Local History

  • Chateau De La Hunaudaye - close to Pledeliac, Built in 1220 by the Tournemine family this majestic ruin of a castle still manages to look imposing depite having seen more grandiose days. there are 45 minute guided tours.
  • Chateau de Bienassis - 22430 Erquy - 15th to 17th century historic castle
  • Musee d'Art et d'Histoire - rue des Lyceens Martyrs, 22 000 Saint-Brieuc -a fine museum about local history and arts.
  • Le Fort la Latte - near Cap Frehel - 14th century coastal castle built on a penninsular into the English Channel
  • Cite d'Alert - Saint Malo - a memorial to the 1939 - 1945 war, this artillery battery was used to defend Saint Malo
  • Musee du Rail - model railway, exhibits and more to be found at Dinan railway station
  • Ecomusee de la Ferme d'Antan - 22270 Pledeliac - 'living' guide to farming life in this area in the past
  • L'Ecomusee du Pays de Rennes - Ferme de la Bintinais, Rennes-Sud - 5 centuries of country and farm life
  • Bayeux - full of history with the world famous tapestry, museums and memorials to the D-Day landings, Cathedral, arts and crafts and more.

Excursions

  • Grand Aquarium - Av. du General-Patton, BP 27, 35402, St-Malo - a fantastic aquarium
  • Jugon les Lacs - this is an area just East of Pledeliac and is a large lage with rivers, canoeing, fishing, riding, historical buildings and more.
  • Le Pays de Frehel - on the coast north of Pledeliac you will find some beautiful sandy beaches( Pleherel Plage), golf courses, castle, tennis, sailing and fantastic scenery.
  • Promenades autour des Villas de Dinard - there are 3 walks looking at buildings in Dinard, a leaflet can be obtained at the Tourist Office.
  • Port de Dinan - Jaman IV - a 1 hour canal trip around Dinan
  • Zooloisirs - Ille-et-Vilaine, 35190 Qerbriac - Zoo and Leisure Park -
  • Saint Lunaire - fantastic beach, sports, arts and crafts just to the West of Dinard

Local Towns

  • Dinan - This town has a brilliant tourist guide available in English which has masses of information in about the hisitory of Dinan, what to see, and three walks which are easy to follow on the map and guide included.
  • Dinard - On the Emeral Coast next to St-Malo, there are several sandy beaches, an aquarium, golfclub, fine restaurants and more.

  • Broons = 20mins from the cottage - Wednesday morning, has a great creperie
